Dorking
Merrywood Park is 10 minutes’ drive from Dorking
Dorking is an appealing traditional market town set within the Surrey Hills, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Perhaps the most recognisable part of the town is West Street, a characterful sloping street, offering a collection of historic buildings, lovely individual shops, a selection of inns and some of the oldest passageways in the town. These are populated by quiet cafés and offer quirky cut-throughs to other areas of the town.
Dorking is particularly known for its antiques trade, with a treasure trove of shops and workshops offering furniture, clocks, jewellery and vintage collectibles.
Evenings and Entertainments around Dorking:
A range of entertainment is available, including cinema, live music and theatre at Dorking Halls, which we are aware is popular with Merrywood residents.
There is a festive Christmas Dinner Dance held in the courtyard at Polesden Lacey and their famous Apple Days in Autumn make a great day out.
A wide range of events are held at RHS Wisley, including family days, seasonal markets and arts masterclasses.
